  • cycleops bike trainer, fluid or magnetic?

Posted by admin on February 10th, 2010 and filed under bike trainer | 4 Comments »

i am definately not an avid biker, i just want to be able to excercise on my bike in my room. the trainer that i am getting comes in either fluid or magnetic. which one is better, and keep in mind that i am no pro or plan to become one.

    thanks! :)

fluids are usually quieter, and run a bit smoother
either will work in your case but if you can go with the fluid trainer

Either will work and work well. The cycleops trainer is pretty queit, so you wont disturb people by riding (VERY important if you live in an apartment above someone). If one of the units has a variable resistance attachment, I would recommend that one.

I have a cycleops magnetic. it is quiet enough, smooth and offers enough resistance when needed. price is more reasonable for the occasional rider.

The best choice on value and performance are Cycleops. So you are on the right track. Fluid ussually offer a little more resistance and are quieter, but unfurtunatelly they are more expensive. Cycleops magnetic is pretty quiet and offer a fair amout of resistance. You dont want to be a pro so resistance is not an issue here. As for price.. if you are in a budget get the magnetic one. So my recomendation for a non avid cyclist .. get the magnetic.
