Diablo 1 was creepy …
Diablo 1 was creepy, dark and you could feel the despair all around. Teh eternal night and darkness around made the atmosphere nearly unbearable. So did the scary and sad music. Diablo 2 is more “cartoonish” with nice fresh graphic (comparing to the 1st game). At least for me. I also think D1 was the best. And was the 1st of its kind, don’t forgett

For me, diablo 2 …
For me, diablo 2 was also very atmospheric and creepy. I had not played diablo 1 at the time, however. I think we will remember our first experiences with certain game styles the best. This is why it’ll be hard for anything to top ff7, resident evil 1/silent hill 2, starcraft/red alert for me.
and also, age helps. games have stopped being as magical as they used to be for me ;(

I would have to …
I would have to agree with Legoman513 that out of the two diablo that are out the first one is the best one. I didn’t get the same feeling I had while playing the second one as I did with the first and for some reason I think the first one had the better graphics of the two. The first one the graphics was smoother. This music is very nostalgic. I might replay diablo 1 just because it’s that good.

The atmosphere of Diablo 1 felt a lot more hellish than D2 and how D3 appears. Fantastic game… I think I’ll go reinstall it now

I agree! Diablo 1 was my first RPG and even though I liked the second one, I still think the original had something special about it that the second missed. Not looking forward to the third one, but the first Diablo will allways be a part of my childhood.

I don’t mean to badmouth Diablo 2, but I think the series went in the wrong direction after the first one… it’s just a hack and slash now, and Diablo 3′ll be no better, just insanely pretty graphics… this on the other hand… it had a certain je ne sais quoi… you could feel the game in your gut… I remember being scared shitless the first time I played it… maybe it’s cause I was 12, but I don’t know.. this music still gives me the heebiejeebies every time I hear it
