That’s a great idea! Mine always gets grass and mud in the fan. I’m going to try it.
ps..Mine also has that funny motor glitch.
Thanks!

The biggest problem …
The biggest problem with the Diablo was they came from the factory very tail heavy. My advise: use 1800-2200 battery to achieve proper CG. Second problem: Motor pod on bottom. My advise: move pod to the top. Third problem: difficult motor removal for upgrading. My advise: if upgrading motor, buy a whole new pod and fan as you will probably do damage to old one trying to remove motor. Fourth problem: dual pod too heavy. My advise: forget about dual pod. Also advanced wings offer little lift.

I’ve been doing some research on this plane, and every site I’ve gone to says that this plane is junk. I can see that yours flies very well. What else did you have to do to get yours to fly like that?
I think this is a …
I think this is a great plane for beginners in this setup. It flies very nicely and slowly on low throttle and glides right in for a soft landing. The Aerocell material is also tough. Highly recommended with this mod though you have to give it a harder push for take off. I hold it on one side just behind the wing and run and throw it as hard as I can.
How do you get the …
How do you get the spacer clips to lock in place? I can not seem to make them fit right. For now I am using tape to keep the pod from moving forward. I tape the surfaces first and then use tape to connect to stop movement. Otherwise you peel off paint.
GREAT TIP! THANKS! …
GREAT TIP! THANKS! Not only does it solve landing problem but also tail heavy problem often complained about. Having motor on bottom pulls bottom up like a swing. On top it pushes nose down. Most people have to add weight to front to get a good center of gravity. I also cut forward inside to get battery farther forward. I can now fly even with 1000mAh 3S 20C battery which is 40 grams lighter than original though I find 1300-1500 is best. Make sure you keep pod held back and battery from moving.

Yes it does, but I don’t recommend it. The dual pod is too heavy and the extra weight negates any power gains from the two motor pod.

Yes, it comes with a 3s 1500mah Lipo. You get about 5 minutes at full throttle and around 10 minutes with mixed throttle.

The Diablo is …
The Diablo is definitely not a begginer’s plane (first trainer). It is a good second plane once you get some flight skills. Space is relative to your skill level. I don’t know why there are so many Diablos on Scratch & Dent.

Would you recommend this plane to a beginner who has never flown a plane before? Does it need much space?
I looked at the scratch and dent thing and why is it that there are so many diablos but no other electric planes xD

I just got my Scratch and dent Diablo today and you were right the damage was nothing. I paid $91 for it and I think it’s worth that. Thanks for the advise.
I’ve bought 2 …
I’ve bought 2 planes from scratch & dent and both had minimal tail damage, nothing one rough landing wouldn’t cause and never affected flight performance. Look for one that says “New/Very Slight Damage” and look for the one with the best price. Don’t forget about checking ebay too. You can find brand new diablos for a good price also.
