A SeaWorld killer whale snatched a trainer from a poolside platform Wednesday and thrashed the woman around underwater, killing her in front of a horrified audience. It marked the third time the animal had been involved in a human death. (Feb. 24)

Killer whales. Hmm I wonder why this sounds like a bad idea…. Is it the size? The teeth? The name? Of course not! Lets go on and train whales to act like a little puppet. That sounds soooo safe. I’m sorry she died, but its not a good idea. Keeping animals in captivity like this is a terrible idea. I hate zoos and places like this. LET THEM BE FREE!

you seem to fail to understand that a person’s life was taken away from her in this video. a person who had a family and friends and a person who loved these wales with all her heart. but all you can do is cry about how cruel it is to keep wales in captivity. most of which were probably rescued from some circumstance that would’ve otherwise caused their death.

It’s really not a bad thing to have them in captivity. Do you remember the first time your folks took you to the zoo? That experience. Being able to get so close to animals like this. Everyone should be able to have that.
And they are cared for, very well. I had a few friends who worked at a zoo. Believe me, those critters are treated better than most people!

It is tragic that it were so violent.. But she died doing what she loved. Working with these creatures, of course, not being mauled by them..
To tell the truth.. I kind of envy her death.. I can only hope that one day I can be so lucky as to go out doing what I love.. Whatever that may be when the time comes.

It’s more than ” …
It’s more than “humanization” or making them do tricks.. It’s teaching them. Teaching animals, even if it is only to do simple tricks, is the greatest way to cover the gaps between man and animal.
And on a side note.. Have you ever trained any animal to perform any tricks? Just like when a person learns something cool, they love to show off and get attention for doing them..
And training them is also a great way to make them more human friendly.. This is a very rare incident..

Huge animals such …
Huge animals such as whales, elephants should be left in the wild or cared for if born in captivity/rescued as a infant and not trained to do these things. Maybe the aquarium takes good care of them but I still think they shouldnt be trained to do those things for entertainment. I personally would be awed to see the creature do nothing but swim in its habitat, I wouldn’t want to see it do tricks. Nature is beautiful in itself, no need for “humanization”.

Its not fair on them and no wonder Tilikum got agitated..WILD zanimals should NOT be kept in Captivity unless they are injured and in need of rescuing etc.Now i understand Dawn was good with the whales..and RIP but still…Tilli is probobally gonna get put down if he isnt relesed in to the wild.
